Assessment and therapy

Initial assessment  £95

A one-hour assessment session involves:

  • Parent / caregiver interview

  • Formal assessment where possible and clinical observation

  • Collaborative discussion outlining options and course of action

  • Verbal and written summary of findings

This option is available as an online or face-to-face service

 

Comprehensive assessment … £340

A comprehensive assessment session involves:

  • Parent interview / detailed case history

  • Assessment: Informal / clinical observation

  • Assessment: Formal / standardized. This may be conducted over more than one session

  • Analysis of assessment results

  • Report including evaluation and recommendations

  • An initial assessment is required prior to the comprehensive assessment

This option is available as an online or face-to-face service

30-minute screenings … £35

  • Services for individuals either online or in-person, or

  • Part of school-based services 

​​Pre-planning for your online-assessment will include:

  • The assessment process: how we do it

  • Pre-assessment and assessment requisites: the technology aspects

  • Assessment terms and conditions: additional to regular terms and conditions

 

Therapy sessions / consultation time:  

60 minutes  £70

45 minutes  £55

Therapy sessions support evidence-based therapy practices and involve the following:

  • aims and goals generated by initial assessment

  • ongoing clinical observation

  • Regular parent / caregiver liaison

  • Regular review

  • Home strategies for parent / caregiver

 

Therapy sessions and contact time are available as face-to-face and online services

The length and regularity of therapy sessions will be determined by assessment and discussion with parent / caregiver

Typically, sessions are once-weekly with 'homework'. Parent / caregiver are warmly encouraged to join therapy sessions

Change in communication is subject to a wide number of variables, 9-12 sessions is generally considered a fair point of reference

Travel costs are additional to consultation fees: 45p / mile and time charged at half hourly rate

Extended assessment periods, progress and other written reports incur additional fees

Parent and teacher meetings incur additional fees

Covid-19 has created significant changes to the way we work and live. In support of our community, our health and our well-being we have all had to make adaptations. In response, I am able to provide:   

  • Online screenings

  • Online comprehensive, standardized assessments

  • Covid-careful therapy sessions

In short, our wonderful work has adapted! Rigorous research and support from the RCSLT, ASLTIP and HCPC has ensured that standardized assessments are not compromised and therapists are keeping you and themselves as safe as possible

School-based services

School-based services are practical, functional and hugely enjoyable. There are many models of service delivery involving the following components:

  • Regular school-based assessment and therapy sessions in collaboration with your educational establishment

  • School visits supplementary to assessment or regular therapy services

  • Screening programs

  • Parent-teacher workshops and training

  • Teacher CPD days

Workshops and training

A range of adult-learner training sessions for professionals and parents are available that can be tailormade to suit requirements. Sessions are dynamic, active-learning experiences and Q and A is integral. Post-session handouts are provided

Previously presented items include:

A little bit of Everything!

  • Participants learn about theoretical aspects of speech and language development in children and key milestones

  • Familiar factors including sensory processing issues and specialist diagnosis that impact progress in communication development are discussed

  • Current research, specialist learning and experiential anecdotes all included!

This workshop gifts generous helpings of new ideas and hands-on strategies to share with parents and caregivers or friends and family

An Intro to Speech and Language Therapy

  • A 'hot-tips' workshop full of responses to frequently asked questions about speech and language development and therapy

  • Participants will focus upon expressive skills; the key milestones of development and factors affecting progress

  • Participants will learn about receptive language (understanding oral language) and higher processing / reasoning skills including key milestones and factors affecting progress

  • Literacy and language connections will be discussed

This workshop will share 'take-home' information on the therapy process including who is involved and how and when they are involved

Bilingualism and Language Development

  • An opportunity to learn exactly why bilingualism is positive and to debunk myths

  • Participants will receive a brief overview of the brain structures involved in language and typically developing language 

  • Different models of bilingual language development will be explored

This workshop will share generous amounts of current research regarding the process of learning multiple languages
